Have you ever watched a show called "Pinky and the Brain"...

It is this cartoon about two laboratory mice. One is a Super intelligent mouse with plans of world domination, and the other one is an idiot.

In fact, the theme song starts by saying that.

"Pinky and The Brain, yes Pinky and The Brain, one is a genius, the other's insane......."

Now, Pinky is the stupid one, and one of his catch-phrases is randomly screamin "NARF!!!" That is where Nick got it.
